Tim Dekkers (blond) started in the eighties as a reporter for the Dutch national newspaper Trouw. He switched in 1988 to national television. For many years, he was a well known and respected journalist, dealing with domestic and foreign topics.
From 2005 till 2010 he was a freelance correspondent in Sydney, Australia. He worked for Dutch, Belgian and Danish media.
The last decade, Dekkers was owner of his Media Office Onderste-Boven. He made many video productions.
The documentary PrEP&ME about the new hiv-prevention pill PrEP is the first documentary he produced, filmed and edited himself. It was shown thee times during the 20th Roze Filmdagen in Amsterdam (Pink Film Festival) and was a big success. The documentary was also selected for film festivals in the USA (Docs without Borders), Uruguay, Argentina, Germany (Hannover Cologne and Dortmund), Spain and Serbia.
In 2020, Tim Dekkers made a new documentary: Hola Yumbo, the concrete gay-paradise in Gran Canaria. This documentary about the Spanish shopping center Yumbo in Playa del Inglés, since the 80's an international gay icon, had his world premiere at the Roze Filmdagen in Amsterdam (March 2020).

Screenwriter Henk Burger (dark) wrote the first Dutch gay-romantic comedy JUST FRIENDS (90', BNNVARA 2018). Nominated for Prix Europa and EBU Script Award. A public favorite among LGBTQ+ audience and beyond. The film won eight awards at international film festivals, many Audience Awards for Best Feature, and Best Narrative (Key west).
His screenplay AFTER THE TONE ('85, 2014 SNG film, director: Digna Sinke) premiered at the IFFR and ended 3d place as public favourite, got nominated for ‘Zilveren Krulstaart’ Best Feature Film Screenplay and became the second-best reviewed Dutch feature film of 2014.
He is now writing his full-length feature film script SENSE OF FAMILY (Producer: BIND, director: Hetty de Kruijf) And screenplay ROSARIUM (Producer: Moving Dreams Pictures), and TV-Series CUCKOOS NEST He wrote the eight-part audio drama series LUCHTEN (2019, AVROTROS), the three-part documentary series DE BEZIELING VAN DE MAESTRO (2013), the format of a ten-part radio series COMPOSING BEHIND DUNES AND DIKES (NTR, Radio 4, 10 x 50', 2013) for which he made two documentaries: THE PERFUME OF THE WIND and SUBTILE EXTREMES. Other radio documentaries include BLIND NOTES (RVU 2008, 50' RVU/NTR), DODEN SPELEN (HUMAN 2006, 45', entry Prix d'Italia 2007), EXCUSES, FOR THE INCONVENIENCE (RVU 2014, 50'), DARK DESIRE (HUMAN, 2001, 50').
He has been a teacher at the ScriptAcademy since 2001, where he teaches Screenwriting and offers the Script Developers Workshop. As freelance script developer/dramatist/coach he has guided many films (including Pink Moon, Mitra, White Berry, Magic Mountains, Jongens, Op de dijk, Find that stupid bitch and throw her in the river, Exit (Golden Calf best TV drama ). From 1990 to 2015, he was advisor for the Media Fund for drama, documentary.
